This weekend, the 20/21 February saw the second Monte Mar Mixed Rinks Trophy event which was sponsored by Bancaja. On an overcast Saturday morning 24 teams mustered for the two day event. We entertained visitors from clubs on the Costa Blanca and also two teams from Indalo. The teams split into six groups of four and during the whole of Saturday and the damp Sunday morning each team played each of the others in their group. By lunchtime on the Sunday the 24 had been reduced to 4. These were a Monte Mar team of Pauline Woodfine, Stan Routledge, Danny King and Barrie Woodfine; an El Rancho team plus two teams from La Marina. The team of skipped by Barrie Woodfine met Jim Donnelly's La Marina outfit in the final. In a very close final that went to an extra end Jim Donnelly?s team won by one shot to secure the trophy. Well done to Jim and his team and also to Barrie, Pauline, Stan and Danny for a great effort. The prizes were presented by Pilar Perea Andreu from Bancaja. The trophy was presented by Jan Gatward who with her late husband Ron was part of the team that won the trophy last year.
